Beginnings

 

Honorable Brothers and Sisters of black Africa descent We are welcoming you to this movement of ours Whose proposed aim is for a common goal for us all African at attaining the dignity, awareness and unity that we [the African people] have been eager to attain through our long, long struggle for our race.

Many unanswered questions and unfolded Truth which has enslaved and is still enslaving our beloved African Continent and its people both within and in the Diaspora, the only wake-up call was to come up with an organization that will deal with Assimilating positive impressions and information and setting Up a Black/Pan-African consciousness movement for all African Descents both home and abroad where we can come together and reason together as people who originates from one great, great mother AFRICA.

Like minded brothers came up with the African Roots Movement between 2001 and 2003 when the structure was completed, constitution ratified 2004 then finally registered in Amsterdam under a notarial deed in 2005.

Since the inception in 2002 a series of Public Awareness Campaign Lectures of which were all self sponsored (though a times under financial constrains) were given under the themes:

  • Illegal Rights
  • Reconciliation commemorating the Haiti Revolution and Rwanda Genocide
  • AIDS,
  • Black Inventions
  • Black History Day in collaboration with Stichting Podium Kwakoe (Afro-Suriname Foundation)
  • WHO IS AN AFRIKAN
  • Understanding Pan  Afrikanism
  • Spiritual Healing and now Humanitarian Crisis in Africa to sensitize the African communities
  • Solidarity March 07 against racism, Poverty and Oppression
  • Protest against " the Grand Cafe Arrest"
  • Promotion and participation in Kerwin's Remembrance
  • Protest against Mike Osei's death
  • Kwanzaa
  • Conference on Health Care for undocumented and cleaners
  • Police Community Dialog Meetings, etc.

    To date we continue to create empowerment programs  , events and projects in the interest of African and Africans,  encourage ourselves on every level to stand for our beloved continent and identity.
